Martin Codax is one of the reference groups with regard to the study and interpretation of medieval music, especially from the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries. Since its founding in 1993, they have played in the most diverse scenarios, such as the Old Music Festival in Palma de Mallorca, National Auditorium in Madrid, German National Museum in Nuremberg, Espazos Sonoros Festival in Galicia or the Cervantes Institute in Rome. In 2011, they acted in the Musikinstrumentenmuseum in Berlin and in the town of Palmela (Portugal) on the score of the opening of Virtual Porch exhibition promoted by the Barrie Foundation. That year they were also invited to participate in the International Roaming Music Festival in Santiago de Compostela. Their discography and repertoire lists the most important musical events of the Middle Ages in the Iberian Peninsula: the Calixtine Code, Cantigas de Santa Maria of Alfonso X the Wise, Cantigas de Amigo Martin Codax, etc. In their interpretations, they use reproductions of medieval instruments constructed from various iconographic sources, such as the Portico de la Gloria of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, as well as traditional instruments (zanfoña, gaita, pandeiro) looking for a full integration of all these elements for performing a live and rewarding music of all these elements for performing a live and rewarding music.codax.jpg
